This is another part of the tech jury’s efforts to find and classify the best VPN software on the market. In this Windscribe VPN review, I will tell you about the most interesting and useful features of this software, its performance and robustness.
We will then work together to test the results of the security and data leak tests we performed. Finally, we will look at all the other aspects of Windows that can help you decide if this is the right option for you.
What is Windscribe VPN ?
Windscribe VPN is an easy-to-use VPN client, very suitable for first-time users. All settings work automatically by default, so all you have to do is select a server from the menu and enjoy a secure connection. You can find the Windscribe VPN download link easily accessible on their website.
The software was launched in Toronto, Canada in April 2016, and has a free version of the user-friendly interface. This single VPN can help newcomers enjoy a secure internet experience for free.
Like any other VPN service, there are pros and cons of Windsor. Keep reading for more information.
Windscribe VPN Essentials – Speed, Security, Privacy
Here are two things every virtual network strives to provide: Encryption that keeps you safe without sacrificing speed. Another thing that most users value is complete anonymity. Let’s see how the windscreen fares work in these categories.
1. Windscribe Speed
While doing the speed test, I was pleasantly surprised by this VPN. Before I tried the software myself, I read end-user Windscribe VPN reviews and the most frequently mentioned complaints were slow.
My test results painted a different picture, as shown below. As always, I’ve tried four different servers from the US, Europe and the UK, and Asia and it doesn’t look so bad.
As you can see, the download speed loss was about 10%, which is very good. Windscribe Pro performs even better because it provides you with more servers to choose from and gets faster. As such, there is a huge disadvantage in upload speeds.
Everything was perfect in Europe. Loss of download speed nowhere and 10% somewhere in upload. I tested the server in Switzerland and the best server, as suggested by the app (Romanian node in my case).
The disadvantages to using this software are as follows: Overall, long-distance servers from other providers slowed me down by 20-30%. In other words, Windscribe VPN Asia is no different in rent than the server speed department and everyone else.
Result: Windsurf is in the top 3 in terms of speed.
2. Windscribe Security
The tests I did not show any DNS or IP leaks. Different types of encryption are offered to choose from in the program. By default, it uses IKEv2, which is usually the fastest protocol but can be easily blocked. You can select the UDP format, which uses the standard Open VPN protocol, TCP, Stealth, and W Sconnel. The last two have been promoted as “can work in China”
In some other Windsurfing reviews, I’ve noticed that one of the most frequently reported reports of this software is the lack of a persuasive switch. This information is clearly incorrect and out of date.
Windscribe VPN features a firewall that acts as a kill switch (like some other VPN services). The firewall blocks all communication outside the tunnel to ensure there is zero leakage. You can continue your behavior automatically, manually or permanently. Corollary: Windscribe VPN provides solid security through good protocols and powerful killer switches.
Whenever you run the software and type your windscreen login information, you can be sure that the company does not log your activities during the service. It does not keep a historical record of VPN sessions and your IP address, nor does it preserve the history of the site you visit. However, it does record some data associated with your account. Naturally, VPN stores any information you provide, such as your username, email address, etc.
The windshield wiper is a bit confusing. The company is based in Canada, one of five countries that founded the Eyes Surveillance Alliance. In other studies, I mentioned 14 eyes, but for Canada, we are talking about the original 5 eyes. This windscreen review is my first test of the unity of the eyes.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with 5, 9, and 14 eyes, these are in collaboration with International Surveillance. Countries around the world work together to collect and share large-scale surveillance data.
The 5 Eyes are:
3. New Zealand
4. the United Kingdom
5. United States
All five have the power to force companies to submit personal data. However, Windscribe VPN’s no-logging policy offers protection, as the company cannot disclose the data it has.
Windscribe VPN Pros
Windscribe VPN is fast and secure, but it’s not what it used to be.
1. Office of the Free Version
When you download the software, you can use it for free for as long as you want. You will have access to 11 locations (each location provides a set of servers) and you get 10 GB of monthly data. Bandwidth is reset every 30 days. These are the only limitations of the free version, which is great. You can test all features of the software, except Netflix, before paying for it. If you decide to purchase the Windscribe VPN Premium package you will have unlimited data and access to more than 110 locations and a separate server with free users.
2. Establishes contacts quickly
Unlike some of the VPNs I’ve reviewed (check out VyprVPN), Windscribe VPN connects to its servers really fast. I tried different locations and each time it took less than 5 seconds to establish a secure connection.
3. User friendly interface
The Windscribe VPN Client UI is simple and good looking. Absolutely great, it’s very welcome for the first time. You won’t miss setting up protocols or finding servers. Everything is easy and easily accessible.
4. Good for streaming and torrenting
You will not be able to watch Netflix connected to any UK or US server. Netflix can be accessed through “Windflix” servers, thanks to customized servers from Windows. They appear as locations in the server menu. Windscribe VPN successfully ignored the geo-restrictions of the popular streaming service. In addition to Japan, India and Windflix servers, this program is even better for checking out the FAQ section below for more information.
5. Supports multiple devices
That’s the decent thing to do, and it should end there. They have apps for almost every platform and you can connect unlimited devices. At your disposal you have apps for all major OS like Windows, Mac and Linux. You can also download browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, and Opera. For mobile, you can choose between the Windscribe VPN Android app and the iOS version. Windscreen is also available for your TV and router.
6. Unlimited devices
Yes, unlimited. Pay once and add everything, even your toaster!
7. Browser extension with special features
The program’s website also offers a browser extension with some nice features. Keep in mind that it does not only apply to the software but it has to be downloaded. This extension provides an adblocker, automatic location selection, time zone switcher, and some other useful special features according to your connection. With the expansion of the Windscribe VPN browser, you’ll be able to do a double hop (rooting your connection to two locations instead of one), which is no more impressive than Perfect Privacy VPN, which allows up to four hips. However, it is still better than most VPNs that do not have this function at all.
8. Bypass DNS requests
You can also change your API (Application Programming Interface) solution automatically, from manually configuring an IP address to access the API, ignoring DNS. If you receive an API contact error from Windscribe VPN, you should contact support for IP addresses (which may take some time, see below).
9. Mine for upgrades
Windscribe VPN allows its users to allocate some of their computing power to the configuration of Maniro, a relatively popular reverse coin. This is an interesting feature that allows you to finance your windscreen account directly with cryptocurrency, using VPN service
As good as everything sounds, I have to point out two serious negatives.
1. Based in Canada
Above I explained why this could be a problem. Although the company claims that it does not have any logs, its order from any agency or government will allow them to log into your activities and secretly hand them over to the authorities. So keep this in mind before you download Windscribe
2. No live chat (with a human)
The website provides live chat with Gary. Who would be a good man if he didn’t have a boot?
It’s also useless unless you skip the FAQ section or you get angry like hell and want to chat with a boot for some reason. If you want to talk to a real person who can answer your questions, you have to submit a ticket and be patient. It will take more than 24 hours to receive your reply.
I wasn’t at all happy with the support I had when writing this Windscribe VPN review. Except for their slow answers (in some cases more than 3 days). Cooperation definitely needs to improve if the company is to a high position in the VPN industry.
Windscribe VPN offers three compensation plans – a monthly plan ($ 9), an annual plan, and an amazing option to tailor your plan to your needs. You will be charged 1 per month for each location and its servers. For example, if you only want to watch Netflix and want unlimited data, you can use Windscribe VPN for only 2 per month.
As I mentioned earlier, you can download the free version of Windows Subscription VPN and use it as long as you like. You can choose only a limited 10 GB monthly broadband allowance and the number of servers (including WindFlex). There is a refund policy, but you can request a refund within the first 3 days after your purchase, or if you have not yet used 10 GB of traffic. Overall, this can be a really affordable VPN service without counting any potential discounts and windscreen promo codes
If you still decide to purchase this software you can choose your payment option from one of the following: PayPal, Bitcoin, Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Payment Wall.
Do I recommend Windscribe VPN?
Much like Windscribe VPN – a free version, good speed, security, and the ability to successfully bypass geo-restrictions. Still, at the time of writing my Windows Subscribe VPN review, I couldn’t control the fact that I was based in Canada. However, the reason for using VPN is anonymity, and here, the possibility of espionage is obvious.
Also, there is Gary, which can be really annoying and is very useless if you have a problem with the software. All the answers are pre-determined, and sometimes they don’t even relate to the question being asked. When you consider a possible compromise with your privacy, the paid version is not so cheap.
Needless to say, I do not recommend Windscribe VPN. If the company operates out of the Eyes network, despite the lack of live chat support, I would highly recommend this software.
